Spectacular views from the cliffs

A 20m high cliff made of Ryukyu limestone and the vast sky and sea that spread out before your eyes. Cape Manzamo is a popular scenic spot that is crowded with many tourists who come to take in the impressive scenery. As you can see from the magnificent scenery, there is a grassy plaza on top of the cliff, and the “Manzamo Area Revitalization Facility” where you can enjoy shopping and gourmet food at the Manzamo entrance, making it a spot that you can enjoy throughout the day.

A spot that impressed the king during the Ryukyu Dynasty

Cape Manza is a cliff located in Onna Village, one of Okinawa’s leading resort areas. There is a grassy square on top of the cliff where you can enjoy the scenery while walking along the promenade. The name Manzamo is said to come from the words of the Ryukyu Dynasty king, King Sho Kei, who was so impressed when he stopped by that he said, “The field is big enough to seat 10,000 people.” The sea in Onna Village is so transparent that if you look down from the cliff, you can see the ocean floor even if it’s a little deeper. On a clear day, you can see fish swimming and coral reefs, so please be careful not to go into dangerous areas and enjoy the beauty of Onna Village’s ocean.

In addition to viewing the sea from the cliff, we also recommend viewing it from a distance. If you look from a distance, the rock on the cliff looks like an elephant’s trunk, and this silhouette is also a familiar symbol of Cape Manza.

Shopping at Cape Manzamo area revitalization facilities

If you go to Cape Manza, be sure to stop by the Cape Manza Area Revitalization Facility, which opened in October 2020. Inside the facility, you can buy tickets for the Cape Manzamo Observation Area (100 yen per person), shop Manzamo, where you can shop for specialty products from Onna Village, Okinawa souvenirs, popular crafts, and sweets, as well as authentic shopping. You can also enjoy gourmet food such as a restaurant where you can enjoy traditional Ryukyu cuisine, a parlor where you can enjoy light meals, and a shop specializing in Okinawa’s famous Serta Andagi.

The 3rd floor is a viewing spot where you can see Cape Manza from the hill, and you can see Cape Manza as well as Mt. Onna if you stand on the opposite side. There is also a plan where you can walk around Cape Manza wearing Ryukyu costumes. It takes about 1 minute to put on the costumes, and children as young as 1 year old can easily enjoy trying out Ryukyu costumes, making it perfect for those who want to take lots of memorable photos. is. (1,000 yen per person)

Sunset time is recommended

Cape Manza is also a famous spot for its beautiful sunsets. At sunset, the East China Sea slowly turns from blue to orange, and you can see the sun setting into the sea. It seems like it would be a very peaceful and comfortable moment to just relax and watch the sunset reflected on the horizon.
