木内 清佳

Born in Tokyo. Fascinated by Okinawan music and the ocean, he found himself living in Okinawa for more than 20 years. After working as a diving instructor, he now manages several childcare facilities. She aims to nurture "wild" children who are strong in mind and body, and is engaged in conveying the joy of the Okinawan sea to children.

Let’s go explore!

Okinawa’s Kodomo no Kuni (Children’s country in Japanese) is located in Okinawa City, in central Okinawa Prefecture. The zoo houses about 1,000 animals of about 150 species. It’s divided into many exciting areas such as “Satoyama Labyrinth” and “Unexplored Region Where Hunters Live”. Just looking at the map will make you feel like you’re about to go exploring in the jungle.

We also hold various fun events throughout the year, such as “Stargazing Events”, “Night Zoo”, “Halloween” and “Christmas”, so we recommend checking the event information on the website before you go.

What makes it so appealing is its particular way of displaying it!

The biggest attraction of Okinawa Children’s Land is the way it is displayed.

In recent years, renovations have been made to the zoo, and the breeding space has not only been designed to recreate the natural environment in which the animals live, but it has also become possible to view the breeding space from various angles. is!

In addition to observing from the same perspective, you can also observe from various angles, such as looking down from above or peeking from below. It’s not a flat cage, so it’s fun to discover where the animals are hiding.

Encounter rare animals found only in Okinawa in the world

At Okinawa Children’s Country, we are putting effort into breeding animals in order to let as many people as possible know about the animals, nature, and culture of the Ryukyu chain.

The Ryukyu chain refers to more than 100 archipelago stretching approximately 1,200km from the southern tip of Kyushu to Taiwan. Once connected by land from mainland China to Kyushu, the continent has sunk and reattached many times over the course of its long history, and many rare animals have been left behind here in the Ryukyu Islands.

After a long walk, take a break at a cafe

The grounds of Okinawa Kodomo no Kuni are huge! In addition to the zoo area, there is also a large pond in the center where you can fish and ride boats, a Ride Park area with trains and a merry-go-round, and a Wonder Museum where you can enjoy various interesting science experiences, so you can enjoy the whole day.

The park also has spots where you can eat light meals, a cafe corner, and a souvenir shop.
After walking a lot, why not take a break and enjoy some coffee time?

Furusatoen” where you can experience the local life of Okinawa

Another charm of Kodomo no Kuni is that it is full of flowers and trees.

The park is filled with a variety of tropical flowers that bloom every season, making it feel like a botanical garden! There is also the Okinawa City Furusatoen, where the lifestyle of Okinawa’s old farmers has been restored. You can feel the local life here.
